About Stacy

Welcome! My name is Stacy Claflin and I’m glad that you’re here. My first novel, Deception, was published in November 26, 2012 and I published the next book in the series, Betrayal, on March 4, 2013!  Chasing Mercy is due out near the end of May.

A Little About Me…

I have always been an avid reader and a writer. When I was a teenager, I would always be in the middle of at least five books. Not only could I keep up with each story line, but I also never needed a bookmark! I could grab any of the books that I was reading and remember what page I left off on! I don’t have that talent anymore, I’m lucky to remember what I went into the kitchen for when I get there!

I still love reading and writing. I am always in the middle of a ton of books to this day, but thankfully the kindle reader that I use remembers where I left off. I am also in the middle of writing a few novels, but I can really only focus on one at time.

There is more to me than writing and reading. I’m the mom of two amazing and adorable boys. I educate my boys from home. Oh, and I run a home daycare too. Some ask how I can get any writing done at all. That’s simple, I get up before 4:30 in the morning every weekday so that I can get my writing in!

I’m also a thyroid cancer survivor, I have been cancer free since 2008! Get your thyroid checked!

If you want to get to know me even more, follow me on Pinterest. (The link is to your right, above the picture of the Deception book cover.) The boards are a real form of self expression for me. You’ll see what I love, what inspires me, what I find humorous, and so much more.

I’m really excited because I’ve stepped out and grabbed a hold of my life long dream to publish novels.

My Writing: The Early Years…

I have been writing stories ever since I could write out enough to make a story. I can remember writing my first chapter story at about the age of nine – for fun. I used to keep spiral bound notebooks all over my room and I would write story after story. Those were the days before people had computers in their home, much less digital notebooks!

My earliest series was my “Jake ‘N Joe” series, which I still have – on the original construction paper. Jake and Joe were two of my younger cousins. They were often getting into mischief, giving me an endless supply of story ideas. I would read the stories at family gatherings and the adults would usually roar with laughter. Often at points where I wasn’t trying to be funny.

I was a senior in high school before my first story was typed on a computer. That was when my mom got her second computer and I inherited her super cool green-screen computer that weighed almost as much as my car. I don’t even think that I could access that story now because it’s saved on this thing called a floppy disk …although the disk itself wasn’t floppy.

When I was in college, I didn’t have a lot of time for writing. Each professor thought that my entire life should revolve around their class. I enjoyed writing so I made time to write small pieces at a time. I would write a chapter and then email it to a select group of people. They always enjoyed receiving the chapters and I loved the immediate feedback, which usually consisted of something along the lines of wanting the next chapter right away because they didn’t want to wait.

My Writing: Present & Future…

Life got in the way of writing after college and I stopped writing for a long time. I started to feel like something was missing and that I needed to do something for myself. It took me a while to figure out that I still wanted to write and publish novels. I started writing Deception immediately and I have loved every minute of it! Even through the editing process, I couldn’t stop writing! So I started book two while finishing up Deception.

I have plans for at least four books in The Transformed series – and a series that is an offshoot from The Transformed! All of this before the first book is even published! I’m glad that I type fast. Beyond those books, I also have plans for some shorter novels. I don’t plan on turning those into a series, but if there is a demand I’m sure that I will.

Please take a look around and leave a comment or contact me through the contact form on the top of the page. I’d love to hear from you! Thanks for taking the time to read this.
