Hi there, glad to meet you! I’m Stacy Claflin, a two-time USA Today bestselling author who has published over 90 books to date. I write in multiple genres, but everything written under my name has elements of suspense, often with at least some element of romance. Whether a book is about a serial killer, an abandoned house, or even a werewolf, you’ll find a similar experience in each story!
I’ve always been an avid reader and a writer. When I was a teenager, I was always in the middle of reading at least five books at a time. Not only could I keep up with each storyline, but I also never needed a bookmark! (These days, I’m lucky to remember why I went into the kitchen.)
My love for thrillers goes back to early childhood when I fell in love with Unsolved Mysteries and America’s Most Wanted. When I was five, I got mad at a babysitter who wouldn’t let me watch the evening news. These days, I spend my free time listening to true crime podcasts or watching documentaries on the subject.
I’ve been telling stories for as long as I can remember, and as child I’d get into trouble for trying to convince friends my wild tales were true. Now I put my creativity to better use by writing page-turning novels that leave readers begging for more.
I occasionally dabble in other genres, so as you peruse my books, you’ll find some romance and paranormal tales, all with strong suspense elements.
There’s more to me than writing and reading. I’m the mom of two smart and hilarious boys that I educate from home. I love hiking and being active outdoors. There isn’t anything better than spending time with family and friends!
I also enjoy watching a wide range of shows, such as Reign, The Walking Dead, You, Dead to Me, Umbrella Academy, Bates Motel, Stranger Things, The Last Kingdom, Designated Survivor, and Glitch. I’m also obsessed with podcasts and taking online courses to improve my writing craft.
I’m also thyroid cancer survivor. I’ve been cancer free since 2008. Get your thyroid checked!
I’ve been writing stories ever since I could write out enough to make a story. I can remember writing my first chapter story at about the age of nine. I kept spiral bound notebooks, writing story after story.
My earliest series was the “Jake ‘N Joe” series, which I still have on the original construction paper. Jake and Joe were my cousins, often getting into mischief. They gave me an endless supply of story ideas. I would read the stories at family gatherings and the adults would roar with laughter.
I was a senior in high school before my first story was typed on a computer. That was when my mom got her second computer and I inherited her super cool green-screen computer that weighed almost as much as my car!
When I was in college, I didn’t have a lot of time for writing. I enjoyed writing so I made time to write small pieces at a time. I would write a chapter and then email it to friends. They always enjoyed them and they didn’t want to wait for the next installment.
Life got in the way after college and I stopped writing. Years later, I felt like something was missing, and I finally figured out that I wanted to write and publish novels.
I began writing my first published novel, Deception, right away. Ever since that day, I’ve spent a lot of time learning everything I could about being an author.
On February 13, 2015 I became a full-time author! It’s a real dream come true. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me every step of the way, readers and writers alike!
Since then, I’ve been continuing to publish regularly. I’ve done some shared-world series with other authors which was a lot of fun, though I’ve mostly worked alone. I have so many ideas, it’s hard to keep up with all of them. I have ideas for new books and series, and I can’t wait to get them into the world!
