My first novel of the month is complete! I went a little over my target goal, but after changing the ending, it’s so worth it. I’m really excited about the new ending!
I love the feeling of finishing a first draft.
It even beats actually publishing…at least for me.
Now that I’ve finished the 8th book in my Transformed series, I’m going to have to start working on the cover and a title. And after that, I’ll have to get to work thinking about the next book because after that ending, my readers are going to demand more. They’re used to teasers at the end, and this could possibly be my best one yet. I’ll have to wait and see what they think, though!
Tomorrow I start a new book. It’ll be the third book in my Seaside Hunters series, Seaside Dances. Time to get my outline done! I’m currently going over the first draft of the second book, and I really love it.
And I have to say that I really like genre-hopping. I need the break in between stories. It really helps me to return to a series refreshed and ready to go.
Genre-hopping is one of those things in the indie world that gets a lot of debate. Should authors other than the big names take on pen names when going to a new genre?
In my experience, many readers will take the jump with me. I’ve had quite a number of readers who told me they don’t usually read a certain genre, but because I wrote the story, they tried and loved it.
My writing is still my writing despite genre. My sweet romance has a dash of suspense. My contemporary suspense still has a bit of romance. My paranormal reads have a bit of contemporary, even when jumping ahead eighty years after a massive war that destroyed nearly everything. And one thing a lot of readers like is that all of it is pretty clean. Even the most intense stuff has little language (I do keep the bad guys real) and definitely no open-door romantic scenes.
Hey it’s me again 🙂
I am seriously freaking out right now about destroyed coming out!!! I was wondering when about if will actually be available for purchase? Oh and LOVED seaside surprise by the way 😉
Hey Meghan! 🙂 Are you signed up for my newsletter? I just released Destroyed! The links are here: https://stacyclaflin.com/book/destroyed/
I also JUST finished the first draft of book 8 (yet to be named) so that won’t be too far behind. 🙂
So glad you like Seaside! I’m working on the next one of that series, too.
Have a great day!
