If you ever visit Delphic Cove, watch your back. Kidnappings and abductions are a little too commonplace. You don’t want to be the next victim.
Often, vampires and witches can be found behind these crimes of passion. But it’s not always so easy to tell who is behind a kidnapping. More often than not, others are hired or forced into kidnapping for someone else. And good help can be hard to find, as one vampire discovered:
He carried me into the woods. I could hear the others following closely behind.
“She’s a fighter. Maybe we ought to knock her out.”
The blood drained from my face. How were they planning on doing that?
“What? You can’t handle a girl?” Adam snarled. “Vampire up, Luke.”
Luke readjusted his hold on me and squeezed harder. It was becoming harder to breathe.
We traveled through the woods for a while before Adam ordered me chained to a tree.
“Which tree?” asked Luke.
“I was warned that you’re an idiot.” Adam sighed. “Just tie her to a tree.”
Not even the leaders of the vampire kingdom are safe:
The morning of her disappearance, I knocked on her door several times, completely oblivious to the fact that only hours before, the young princess had been taken. After there was no answer, I walked in, only to find her room empty. I searched all of her favorite hiding spots, since she loved to hide, but did not find her.
A little while later, when I found her parents, I asked where she was, assuming that they knew.
“She is sleeping, of course,” her mother, the queen, replied. “That child sleeps like no other.”
“Where?” I asked, feeling my heart drop to my stomach. “Her room is empty.”
The king stood up from his chair in one swift motion. “Empty?”
I nodded, stepping back a little, startled by the look on his face.
“Are you sure it was empty?” asked her mother. “You know how she loves to play games. Perhaps she was only hiding.”
“No, your highness. It was definitely empty. I looked everywhere.”
The king turned to the servants, his eyes burning with the full weight of his authority. “Find her.”

You really have to watch your back around vampires then! Although, maybe in some cases, a victim might be able to trick their way out, especially of some of them are an idiot, like Luke ;P
Sophie
I’d rather have to deal with the likes of Luke than most of the other vampires!
Clearly they need a lot more Liam Neeson in Delphic Cove.
Why didn’t they think of that? 🙂
That’s not a group I want to be around then! I love how you interject action into your dialog. I need to try doing that more!
You need to be at the top of your game to be able to deal with these guys! 🙂 Mixing action with dialogue is fun and keeps it interesting.
Vampires scare me way more than zombies do.
But they’re much easier on the eyes than zombies! 🙂 Usually, anyway.
Sweet! First I thought that it would be the same old story but it really took me to a new world and that’s the best part.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Sounds like a place you need a bodyguard – preferably a supernatural one 🙂
Tasha
Sounds like a good plan to me! 🙂
*Sigh* Vampires and witches, always needing a human for one thing or another and deciding on kidnapping. 😉
So typical, huh? 🙂
