Nokken

Nokken

The Nokken have a long and varied history throughout different cultures. They are usually found living in or near water, waiting to deceive their prey.

If they see a beautiful woman, they’ve been known to turn into a handsome man playing a beautiful tune on the fiddle. Likewise, they have been said to turn into a beautiful woman to entrap a man. They will also turn into horses and other creatures.

When they run into the vampires of Delphic Cove, they take on even craftier habits. In Ascension, they show up eager to remove vampires from the earth. What most of the old mythologies about the Nokken have left out is the fact that vampires are their mortal enemy.

The fact that they can shape shift makes them difficult enough to track and kill, but they have found an entirely new way to hide themselves from one vampire in particular.

Why are they after that vampire? Why does their trick only work on her? What do they want?

The answers will be clear soon enough, but not before they attempt to turn some of the highest-ranking vampires into Nokken first.

  1. An enemy worthy of a vampire – that must make for an interesting conflict!

    1. They are quite interesting and I had fun coming up with some unique concepts.

  2. Tasha says:

They sound like very tricky individuals. Shape changing wasn’t enough so they figured out a new way as well – they are dedicated.

  3. They spent centuries hiding, so they had a lot of time to figure out new tricks! They’re not only dedicated, but patient too.

  4. Thanks for this education. I had no idea what the name of it was.

    1. Who knew you’d learn something new today from a post about vampires?

  5. I.L. Wolf says:

It sounds like the vampires have it kind of had in Delphic Cove. I’m starting to feel a little bad for them (but only a little. They’re vampires. They can probably handle it).

    1. They did have a nice, long time of peace for a while, but yes, the have faced quite a number of challenges!
