Blake turned around and ran out of the room.
That didn’t leave me much time. I hurried out of bed and found my shoes. I had to get back to the city and figure out what was going on. I opened my door and looked down the hallway. Blake was nowhere in sight. I closed the door and ran for the nearest exit.
Luckily, I got out of there without running into anyone. The last thing I needed was for anyone else to see the color of my eyes.
Once outside, it took me a moment to get my bearings. I’d only been to the city entrance one time. It was near the training grounds. I made my way to the overgrown path and pushed aside thorny bushes. They scratched my arms and I winced, but it was only momentary before the wounds healed.
There was a door in the hill after a little clearing. I walked up to it, my pulse pounding in my ears.
The door opened and out walked Darius. He looked exactly as he had those years earlier, only taller, more muscular, and with facial hair. My heart skipped a beat. He was even better looking than any vampire I’d ever seen.
I looked into his eyes and my breath caught. I couldn’t speak.
He smiled. “I knew you’d be back.”
I stared at him like a fool. He was even more gorgeous when he smiled.
