Open Heart (Farsighted, Book Two) by Emlyn Chand

I really enjoyed the first book in the series (Farsighted) and was excited to read the second one. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed this one even more than the first.

It took some time to adjust to Simmi’s point of view because I had one view of her from Alex’s perspective in Farsighted. He thought that she was flawless and her view of herself was the complete opposite. She has a low self-image and isn’t the same person that Alex thought she was.

It didn’t take too long for me to adjust to the “new” Simmi and I couldn’t put the book down. Emlyn has a wonderful writing style that draws you into the story and makes you care about the characters. At one point, I threw my reader down on the bed because I was so frustrated with what Simmi did. It’s rare that I get that invested with a character.

Another thing that I enjoy about this series is that she takes serious issues and writes about them very well. She doesn’t over dramatize them, nor does she glaze over them.

I can’t wait to read the next book!
