Twisted
Cayden Rivers wants nothing more than to be normal, but we don’t always get what we want. For years he has been hiding a secret, afraid of being labeled a “freak”. Every day he goes to school, plays football, spends time with his girlfriend, and helps carry his drunken adopted father to bed. KayCee is a 24 year old self-published author from Cleveland, Ohio. KayCee has always loved reading. After a re-occurring dream she decided to try writing about it. She wrote the first installment of Twisted when she was 20.
“I kept having this dream about these twins, and then I just decided to run with it. I wrote the beginning, the end, and then filled in the middle.”
KayCee finished the book in 8 months and then decided to share the book online. After seeing people get interested in the book and the characters, she decided to write another book and turn Twisted into a series.
KayCee has finished four novels in the Twisted series and is currently working on the fifth book.
I held on to my memory of her as I took my last breath. Her wide bright smile and her beautiful green eyes sparkled as she looked at me. I stared into her eyes and, in that instant, everything was okay.
What’s your story? How did you get into writing?
It really just came out of nowhere. I was always a reader not a writer. I was 20. Living alone with no means of transportation at the time so I didn’t go out and do much unless I had a ride. I started having this dream over and over about these twins so I finally decided to write it down. As soon as I started I couldn’t stop.
What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
Don’t give up on you’re writing. Pour your heart into you’re writing.
What are you working on now?
I am working on chapter 5 of Twisted 5
What has been the most challenging part of publishing or marketing your book?
Getting it out there for people to see and want to read. There are so many books online, how could I get them to read mine?
What has been your favorite part?
The positive feedback I’ve gotten. I’ve gotten some very heartwarming messages and reviews that just made me want to write even more.
Who are your favorite authors?
J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Suzanne Collins.
What gave you the idea for your current work?
Just kept going off of the first four. Just trying to think up new ideas for it and how to end it.
If you could be any character in the book, which one would you be?
Probably Cayden. He really does go from nothing to having everything and anything he could hope for.
What other books have you written and/or are working on for the future?
I’ve completed 4 novels for the Twisted series. I also have another book called Delusions that I have done about five chapters in, but have yet to finish. It’s a lot darker. It’s very different from the Twisted series.
What’s your favorite quote?
Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.
What’s your favorite supernatural creature?
Probably vampire or witch.
