W is for Water Faeries #atozchallenge

Water Faeries faerie

A sub-set of water faeries called the Asrai are one of the two species that came together to birth the original vampires. When the group of Asrai that fell in love with the Atcen (ugly, man-eating ogres who transform into beautiful creatures after eating) surprised everyone, including themselves.

The Asrai prefer to live near smaller bodies of water, although any body of water will do. They live in the shadows, and often sleep during the day. They can’t go near the sunlight or they will melt into a puddle, dying a permanent death, with no chance of being brought back to life.

It’s also rumored that if an Asrai touches a human, their skin will become permanently cold in that spot.

Unfortunately, the Asrai and Atcen didn’t live all that long after having the nine original vampire children, also called Fyrsturae. A plague swept through the families, killing all of the Fyrsturae parents…or did some get away, unseen?

Other creatures, the rest of the Asrai and Atcen in particular, blamed the deadly plague on the vampires, saying they were an abomination of nature. Because of that, many supernatural creatures, wanted the vampires dead, including their own relatives, the Asrai and Atcen.

  1. They’re really beautiful!

  2. Sounds like it was opposites attracting with the Asrai and the Atcen.
