You read that right! Grabbing your favorite novel and sinking into a soft chair with cup of coffee or tea is more than an indulgence – it’s actually good for you. 🥰
1 – Reading makes you happier. Whether you’re reading a sweet romance or a tense thriller, the experience will positively boost your emotions. A warm, happy read can cheer you up, whereas a suspenseful story gives hope. What? It’s true. A nail-biting read shows you people experiencing things far worse than you’re dealing with – and that gives you hope, seeing them overcome nightmarish obstacles. (That’s why I love thrillers!)
2 – It develops empathy. As we read about our imaginary friends in different life circumstances, we gain understanding for others in the real world.
3 – Reading inspires you to be your best self. You know those heroes you find yourself rooting for while turning the pages? It’s not just because they’re super awesome (though they probably are!) but because we allow ourselves to imagine becoming victorious as we journey with them.
4 – It reduces stress. Reading allows us to step away from our problems, which is good for our mental and physical health. Even a fifteen-minute escape from reality can do wonders!
5 – Reading boosts creativity! You aren’t just hanging onto the creativity of the writer, but you’re filling your own creative well. When I feel drained in my writing, one of the first things I do is pick up a good book and get lost in it. Then my tank is full, and I’m ready to go again!
BUT FIRST… tell me what you love most about reading fiction! 👊🏻
To me reading relaxes me as well as it takes me away from real life. There is so many more reasons why I do, but I love reading and visualizing the stories.
It’s really relaxing. I love reading right before bed!
