Ziamara was on her death bed, living in a world 80 years in the future, which has been desolated by war. She was lucky enough to live in a town with a hospital, but what they had to offer her was of no real help.
When we meet her in Ascension, she’s just been released from the hospital so she can spend her final days at home with her grandma, Heidi.
Heidi is desperate to save Ziamara. She has just laid her mother to rest, and also has already lost her own daughter, Zia’s mom, in the war. She can’t lose her granddaughter too.
She had read in some old family diaries about a family member who had been turned into a vampire. She finds the vampire relative just in time, begging her to turn her beloved granddaughter into a vampire in order to save her life.
They strike an agreement, but in order for Ziamara to be trained to live on her own as a vampire, Heidi must let her go with the vampires to stay in a castle full of vampires. Once she is fully prepared to live among humans, she will be returned home.
Ziamara has a relatively small part in the book of Ascension, but later this year, she’ll have her own story to tell in Saved by a Vampire. How will she handle life as a new vampire in a desolate, post-war human world? What about the handsome vampire prince who she grew close to in the castle?
