B is for Blessings #atozchallenge

Blessings

purplefairy
In the world of the Transformed, there are different types of blessings….

Sun blessings
Engagement blessings
Protection

Blessings can come from….

Prophets
Faeries
Witches

Blessings can be stripped against your will…but they can be restored.

They can come from spoken word…or you can wear jewelry that has been blessed.

Some blessings are bestowed upon birth.

Other blessings require a specific line of ancient witches or prophets.

If you’re in need of a blessing, you’re usually in serious trouble.

  1. Nice!

Are the Blessings of Faeries different than those of Witches? I would almost expect a Fae Blessing to come with some sort of catch.

    1. Each one is different, although witches tend to be called upon to remove blessings more often than giving them. As far as the faeries, the little, garden ones are protective in nature, but the water faeries, they probably have a catch.

  2. I love when an author creates a whole world for their stories that has everything from terminology to its own folklore. Great job!

    Micah

    1. Thank you, Micah! 🙂

  3. Tasha says:

So even at birth a blessing means the poor child needs the protection or something like that, or are blessings given at birth of a different note?
    Great idea, BTW, very intriguing.

    1. Hi Tasha,
The blessings are definitely for protection! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

  4. So blessings mean that you are in some serious stuff. Got it. Now I want to know who has blessings from birth and why!

    1. Hi Stephanie,
You’ll have to read the stories to figure that out! 😉 Although, I’m sure you’ll get more clues this month, following my posts. 🙂

Of all the possible B words, that one’s one of the nicest. Hi again!

    1. I couldn’t agree more! 🙂

  6. So blessings are protections – are they seen as a gift, or is there a price to pay for them?

    Great Concept.

    1. Hi Sophie,

Thanks for stopping by. Blessings are generally given as gift, but the blessing can be given by free will or because the one wanting the blessing has more power than the ‘blesser’ which could possibly lead to a price in a different way!

  7. I don’t know who is blessing me – whether it’s the Lord (I’m not particularly religious anymore.), a fairy or what, but I feel very lucky these days.

    1. That’s great, Jolie! I feel quite blessed myself, especially in regards to writing. 🙂

  8. Helen Martin says:

    Beautiful Stacy. I love blessings.

    1. Thank you, Helen! 🙂

  9. Deena Rae says:

Wow, seems that you did a lot of world building in this. I will be putting it on my TBR list! Good luck Stacy!

    1. Thank you, Deena. I’ve been writing the series for two years (I started it April of 2012) and it amazes me how it keeps growing!
