Reflections…and a New Direction for the Blog

I’m going to start with the Cliff’s notes version: The blog is moving in a direction of more personal from less personal.

Up to this point, the majority of my blog has been hosting spots for blog tours and book blasts, along with the occasional news update about one of my books: a new release, a sale, a giveaway, etc.

One reason I’ve enjoyed participating in the blog tours is because I really like to promote other authors and that’s a pretty easy way to do that. Easy…but time consuming, and mostly impersonal unless I write a book review.

In 2015, I want to write more to my readers. I’d like you to get to know me a little more…something that hasn’t really happened up to this point.

Look forward to more:

  • Reviews: because they’re personal in that I give my experience reading a book. They are also one way I can continue to promote other authors.
  • Topics that interest me and are probably related to books in some way. I enjoy watching shows that are similar to what I write, so I may write about those shows. Readers may discover a new show to try.
  • Updates on my books. I’m not going to stop with those! I plan to continue publishing a lot and my blog is a great place to share updates…especially given limitations placed by certain social media networks.
  • Giveaways: I enjoy participating in giveaway hops, so those are here to stay. They’re a win for readers and writers alike.
  • Tips for writers. Some of my writerly posts have been my most popular, so I will continue with those on occasion.
  • My characters: interviews, maybe exclusive short stories, excerpts from upcoming novels, and more.
  • Stuff going on with me. This year is my year of gratitude. I plan to post about gratitude, but I’m not sure what that means yet. Spontaneity is fun!
  • More? I’m sure new ideas will arise, and I’ll go with it.

This past year has been a real doozy – both good and bad. My writing and books have both seen amazing growth, and I’m very excited about the direction it’s going.

There have been setbacks in my own life that have been real hits. The biggest being a major, unforseen health catastrophe with my dad. Broke my heart, but I’m glad everything is moving in the right direction.

Cheers to a great new year for you all!
